He tell me, I have an allergy, I am allergic to bullshit.

Barbés

When you enter this part of Paris, you notice the difference, the border between the romantic and beautiful, to the rough, crowded and very intensed. Paris has so many beautiful fountains, churches, architecture, decorations, etc. It has so much of history and art. But, do we forget that the year is 2009 and that the romance and beauty are replaced by the hunger, bitterness and conflicts between the citizens. Welcome to this dark spot of dirt on this perfect diamond. Welcome to the mess in the city of perfection. Welcome to the richness, in the city of poverty. Welcome to the joy in the city of depression. Welcome to the love, in the city of war. When you enter the metro line nr 2, going from Nation up to the north of Paris, you see all kinds of people going into town. When the metro reaches the station Stalingrad, most of the white people have left the train. What you see now is a mixture of Asians, Africans, Arabs and a few caucasians, going up north. Some faces are bleached, becomin...

We...

We are blind Not because we don't see But because we choose to We are deaf Not because we were born like that But because we adapted to it We are senseless Not because we don't feel But because we don't look for it We don't smell Not because it's clean But because it's too dirty We don't talk Not because we are numb But because we are afraid We don't eat Not bacause we are hungry But because we want to stay slim We laugh Not because we are happy But because we want to forget We don't touch Not because we are alone But because we don't want to get attached We are fooled Not because we are stupid But simply, because it is easier that way

The true value of a friend

If you don't value your friends they will not be there for you when you will need them. They cannot wait forever and life is so funny that it will always turn around on you and teach you a lesson. We think that we can always run away from our karma, we forget that there is another power out there, so much stronger than us. We do mistakes, without asking for forgivness, we insult, without thinking about the consequenses, we forget and we don't pay attention to our actions. I am very kind, loving and giving. But at this point, after waiting to hear from a lot of people, I simply walk away. If you don't show me love, I will turn my back on you. I always say that and I believe it is true, what goes around, comes back around. The Almighty will take care of that. You think that you can escape, but I am sorry to tell you, that you cannot. When some fo these people will try to look for me now that I am moving to a more attractive part of the world, I am so sorry to tell you that I ...
Sometimes I am scared of the world. It is destroying itself. I don't see a way out and everything sounds hopeless. So while we all are sinking deeper and deeper into the destruction. My only wish is to spend my last seconds with you.

It is so funny

It is so funny that I need you And you don't even know It is so crazy that I love you But you don't even know I am so sure of you And you don't even know It is so funny that I see you But you don't even know It is so funny, cause there is no one else for me But you don't even know It is so funny that I know all this But you don't even know It is so funny that I feel this But you don't even know Because if I would ever tell you You would run away And I will never know

To Belong

We all need to feel that we belong. We need to find that place and be able to recognize it. I have been an immigrant for 14 years. I move around a lot and wherever I go, I never belong to the majority. By being one of the minority groups in a country you easily blame the problems on the society. You glorify your own country, mainly because you have not seen it for a very long time, making it to a distant paradise, that you are striving to return to, one day. Longing for a place where you can call home. I really think that we should appreciate the moment, right here and now. We have moved for a reason and we are getting something from the experience, we always learn and we always grow. People always judge you depending on certain elements and it is hard not to fall into arguments and quarrels. No matter what happens in your daily experience it is so relaxing to come back to this certain place and be with the people who grew up in the same city as you did. Who ate the same food as you at...
When we hear about Africa in the news or in the newspapers, all they talk about is the war, starvation and misery. When I came to Europe, nobody could understand why I left for this uncertain continent. They asked me, what is there? I answered - everything. The media does not mention the actual people, the laughter and all the fun that is going on. It almost feels as if they don't want us to know. They want to hide the truth. They want to scare us and they don't want us to know. Did your TV ever tell you that a stranger can welcome you into their house, give you his/her last piece of food, last wata and give you his bed, just to make sure that you feel welcomed? You can stay for as long as you want, nobody would ever kick you out. Did they write in the newspapers how an African person would leave all his/her responsibilities, just to help you? How they value a true friend? How they commit to the family? How warmhearted, kind and giving they are? Did they tell you, that when we ...
We all, are products of our society. We all want to survive. Some of us have to fight harder, others less. Some of us need to do certain things, which others don't.
I see the lights and a big party, While my children are robbed in the dark. I see people wasting food, While my children are crying of pain. I see you buying cheap clothes, While my children are working as slaves. I see you enjoying, Thanks to us who are suffering.
You refused to help a crying child She fell down and now she is dead Your forgot to turn around towards a waiting love She ran away and now she is lost She needed a simple shelter You felt too big and you just left You went to the kitchen But your chef was not there You were looking for clean laundry But your cleaning lady did not show up today You stepped outside your house But you came too late They already left
I believe that my spirit, life and mission are predestined. I could force to change it, but it would never go to my benefit. I live for my spirits and if I satisfy them, they in turn will satisfy me. In order to get, you have to give. They want to live a certain life and I am their tool. The Almighty gave me life and a certain mission, I am his daughter. He is my father and creator. To him, I am always his child, no matter how disobedient I am. I try to find my own way in life, yet he just laughs. He knows the answers before I do. I try to close my ears and not to listen, again , he laughs. He knows that one day I will realize my own good. Sometimes, I try to imagine myself as an ordinary person, yet I fail. My creator has chosen a life for me. I try to run away from my duties, but instead I get punished and I cry. I fall, crying for help. My mother reaches out to me. Once again I try to run, only knowing that sooner or later I will dive into my mother's ocean, once again. My husba...

If ONLY

If only, nobody tried to create a life for me, without asking for my opinion first... our society was not so strict and our history so dramatic... I was encouraged to do what I loved doing… passion could win over the money… people could spend time on encouraging and helping each other as opposed to break one another… If only you listened, cared, appreciated me, encouraged, didn’t try to change me, tried to understand… I would have not run, I would have been there Maybe not the way you would’ve preferred But at least we would have been happy. All I wanted was your love.
We set up many different goals for ourselves everyday. While I am doing my best in trying to become a better person by sharing my soul with the ones who need it, people in the West are trying their hardest to get hold of the latest electronic equipment and get the flashiest outfits. Now tell me, how am I supposed to react to that? People in the West forget about how you should treat the people you care about. Some invite you to their house, but they don’t even welcome you when you get there. If they don’t value themselves on the inside, how can they gain respect from the outside? If you haven’t put down any thought and expression in your actions, then how will you achieve anything? How will you gain if you don’t spend, first? Why are we always rushing and what we running from?

Rise Up

Africa cannot passively stand back and let anybody decide over her fate. She cannot rely on the outside help to rise up, she has to do that by her self. It is up to her people to decide over themselves and get where they want to get. The African countries do not have a sense of nationalism, which is not strange if you look at the fact that the African boundaries were not constructed by Africans, it was done by the Europeans who drew the lines, without taking into consideration which ethnic groups they put together. They did not consider their differences and the fact that they might not get along with each other. The migration of the African people into the western world is not the solution of the problem, which Africa is facing today. To abandon your country and your beautiful continent, which is full of a culture and treasures, is not something you would choose to do in the first place. Your family and friends, which you will not be able to see and get the necessary support from, the...

Growing up

I feel that the best that my mom ever done for me, was to take me away from a country full of misery and no hope. When we make up our mind to go for something, when we are responsible, not only for our own lives but for our children and relatives, then we become very determined. It is then not a matter of selfishness, it is simply a matter of giving your children a better place to live in. It is your responsibility as a parent to look beyond your own needs and put your child’s first. Some mothers’ actions are very difficult for us to understand. We might feel abandoned and not loved, but in the end we realize that all they did was for your own good. The double shifts they worked, the late nights at work, their tiredness, and finally the moment when your mother would leave you to go out in the world and make a new future for you. As a child of nine years, I realized already that the country I was living in was not good for me. I was unhappy with the way the school was operating , I was ...

Qualifications

Qualifications, when do we really know what we master and who is the one to tell us that we qualify? The problem in my society is that the ones above ones rather stop us from learning as opposed to creating the possibilities for us who are different and who do not fit into the category. Where do we go and to whom can we turn to? The administration does not consider us as different individuals with the needs, which are quite different from the rest. Why cannot I attend a program in English, when my entire university education has been taken place in English speaking countries? Why do not I qualify for a course about my literature and culture, when I speak the language and have already a certain skill in terms of prose and literature? Who is more qualified? Who is the one to judge? I am not qualified to take certain courses, which I am actually qualified to teach.

Melting Pot

From time to time we nee to meet our neighbors, our teachers and family to upgrade our skills, compare and share our knowledge. We all go away and learn new things, depending on where we go. The knowledge is there for everybody and no matter if one’s conditions do not allow one to go, it does not mean that the ones who do go, will not share what they have learnt. We do not forget who we are and no matter how much time passes, we always remember each other. If you really want to stay true to your students, you need to, from time to time, take a trip out and test your knowledge. You have to meet your advisers and the people who are into the same thing as you are. It is very important not to forget the size of the world and not to get stuck in the same place, thinking that, that is it. You have to go further and set up you goals even higher than you would ever think you would reach.

Partner

It is hard being together with a performing artist. Right now I am referring to dancers in particular. We are born with a goal and a mission in our minds. Some of us are even pre-destined and the spirits have chosen our paths already. Our actions are mostly surrounded by our career, everything we do has to do with dance. At times we could have rehearsals from morning till night, performances, tours and if we do get time in between, then we need to take care of our bodies by eating right, exercising and sleeping. Our schedule is different from the rest of peoples’, it is irregular and very unpredictable. In a relationship like that, your partner not only needs to love you for who you are, but he also needs to be understanding and very patient. Dance business is different from the rest of the professions and it demands all your energy and dedication. It is very competitive out there and if you will not be different and something special, then you simply will not have a job and this busin...

Dance Improv and Emotions

How do you know that you are a fabulous dancer? You can have the greatest technique, master many different styles, take part in many productions and be very well known. But when we meet in an improv jam it is your spirit, daily life experiences, what you ate an hour ago and your environment that matters whether you are able to give and take your partners’ energy. Personally, I bring my emotions with me into the space. All my daily experiences which I never had a chance to let out are being shared and resolved when I improvise. Being a very emotional person gets it’s’ advantages in situations like this. In this jam we are people from many different backgrounds with different experiences, still we meet together as one, with no fear of each other creating a trust, which is very rare for a group who has only been practicing together for a week. We are in it completely with our body, mind and spirit, taking risks, throwing each other, catching and throwing again. We have a certain attitude ...
